Description
Departure from the hotel and transfer for 45 minutes to the archaeological complex of Moray, which according to the Cusco archaeologist Jorge Salazar, are depressions on the surface caused by a meteorite shower in remote times, which the Incas took advantage of and adapted for the construction of circular platforms. concentric, which due to solar exposure and climate change reach a thermal variation of up to 3 degrees Celsius every 3 platforms. Being the hottest 4, 5 and 6 are counting from the base.
The Incas in this place made agricultural adaptations, that is, here they could adapt seeds coming from other regions in the Incario to temperatures and climates present in some other part of it.
They knew exactly at what climate and altitude the different types of seeds germinated more easily, they also had full knowledge of how much water was appropriate for the best cultivation of the different seeds, that is, we can currently affirm that this place worked as an agricultural laboratory in the time of the Incas.
We continue the tour and arrive at Maras, natural salt deposits cultivated by evaporation of salt water from the depths of the mountain.
There are 4,500 salt wells, cultivated in their entirety by the communities of Maras and Pichingoto, which serve as economic support for the families of these two towns and that have been passed down for generations only among the people of these two towns.
There are 3 varieties produced in the wells, the first is white salt which is iodized and is sold both in local markets and nationally and internationally, the famous pink salt in gourmet cuisine that has this color because it is closer to the base of the wells and for having a greater presence of minerals in its composition, and the base of the pools used for feeding animals such as beef and lambs. This half-day tour finish at the hotel at around 3 in the afternoon.
