Description
Departure from the hotel and start of the tour to the city of Cusco, first, you will visit the cathedral of Cusco, a famous colonial construction completed in more than 100 years and which was built on the foundations of an Inca palace such as the Kiswar Cancha. It includes in its structure three churches. The church of the Sagrada Familia, the most recent construction among the three, the Church of Triumph, which was the first cathedral in the city and bears its name in honor of the battle won by the Conquistadors against Manco Inca, and the largest and most majestic the Cathedral proper.
We continue the tour and our second place to visit is the temple of Santo Domingo, a Catholic Church built on what was the most sacred and important temple of the Inca culture, the majestic Qoricancha. The first Inca temple built upon arrival in the Cusco valley, the beginning of all the sacred places scattered throughout the Tawantinsuyo and according to many writers, historians and chroniclers, the most sumptuous temple in all of America.
After visiting the most important attractions within the historic center of the city of Cusco, it is time to continue our tour visiting the archaeological complex of Saqsayhuaman, which has more than 32 hectares of extension and in which we will find 4 very important archaeological remains, which are:
Saqsayhuaman, Cyclopean construction style, impressive megalithic construction, completed in 50 years with the labor of more than 25,000 men working continuously, probably dedicated to the Lightning deity.
Quenqo, probably the most important temple dedicated to the Pachamama, according to studies, most likely the mummification ceremony of the rulers and important people was carried out in this place, to later transfer them to the Qoricancha where the Inca mummies remained and kept all the power they had in life they even had political interference through the royal panacas.
Puca Pucara, important control point for the entry of people to the sacred city of the Incas, the Qosqo.
Tambomachay, also known as the Inca baths, a place of worship to water and one of the places with the greatest diversity of fauna, so much so that it became a preferred hunting ground for most sovereign rulers.
As at the exit, our guide and transport will leave you at your hotel at the end of the tour to the city.
